About Us

I was born and raised in Union, Missouri.  As a young child my family visited Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri.  I remember seeing the master glassblowers demonstrate their craft.  I have been fascinated and surrounded by glass and folk art all my life.  As a junior college student at East Central College in Union, Missouri, I was introduced to the art community.  I entered Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois in 1998, where I began working in glass.  The three years I was at Southern Illinois University I worked in several different forms of glass.  I worked in cold glass (stained glass), glass blowing, glass slumping and fusing while completing my Bachelor of Arts in Communications – Photography.

After graduation I spent a year apprenticing under the master glassblowers at Silver Dollar City, the same men that I had seen as a child.  I developed my craft at Silver Dollar City.  As a glassblower, I developed my own style of a blown fish, and a special technique for making mugs.  I began my own business of making glass beads and jewelry.  After a year at Silver Dollar City, I chose to stay with the company, but move to the new park in Georgia, called Stone Mountain.  There I was the senior glassblower and demonstrator for four years.

I chose to move back to Missouri to be closer to her family and to expand A. J. Glass Works.  I lived in Arbyrd, Missouri for a year.  During that time I met my future husband.  I married David Peery in June 2007.  David and I both work as educators.  I am an Elementary Art Teacher also.  David runs the business part of A. J. Glass Works, while I do the part that I enjoy, the art.
